Internship Program Overview

The Student Internship Program at Open Hearts Counseling LLC provides graduate level counseling students the opportunity to gain direct clinical experience in a supportive trauma informed and client centered private practice setting. Our goal is to support the development of ethical confident and compassionate clinicians through hands on training individualized supervision and professional development.

Program Objectives

• Provide hands on clinical training aligned with CACREP and university standards
• Support the development of professional identity and ethical decision making
• Strengthen diagnostic documentation and therapeutic competencies
• Encourage self awareness and the development of a personal therapeutic style
• Offer practical insight into private practice operations

Supervision & Support                 Intern Responsibilities     

• Weekly Individual Supervision with a fully licensed supervisor.
• Optional group or peer supervision sessions and trainings.
• Real time case consultation and ongoing feedback.
• Access to documentation templates and clinical resources.
• Optional exposure to the back end operations of a private practice, which is valuable for those interested in future practice ownership.

• Conduct intake assessments and provide individual therapy with supervision and support.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation using our EMR system.
• Participate in supervision, case consultation, and optional team meetings.
• Engage in ongoing ethical, cultural, and trauma informed reflection.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow ACA Code of Ethics and HIPAA standards.
